WASHINGTON, DC — Growth Energy is pleased to hear of the recent announcement by Murphy USA to join the growing number of retailers nationwide to offer a 15 percent ethanol blend fuel (E15) in Arkansas immediately, with plans to further expand E15 distribution to other stations throughout the winter.
“Growth Energy applauds Murphy USA’s decision to bring higher blends of homegrown renewable fuels to the American motorist,” said Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy. “Their dedication to providing the consumer with the best, most cost-effective product is commendable. Higher blends such as E15 are helping reduce our dependence on foreign oil, improve our environment through reduced emissions and support our domestic economy by creating jobs that cannot be outsourced.”
E15 is the most tested fuel blend and is approved for all vehicles produced for model year 2001 and beyond – encompassing approximately 80 percent of the vehicles on the road today. In the DoE tests, 86 vehicles, representing all makes and models, were driven more than six million miles with no issues.
“Offering E15 is a win for retailers and consumers,” Buis added. “Retailers offering E15 have a competitive price advantage while consumers are able to purchase a lower cost, better performing fuel compared to regular unleaded. We are thrilled to see Murphy USA take this step and look forward to additional retail chains following their lead,” Buis concluded.
