Growth Energy Cares, Front Range Energy Host Charity Golf Tournament

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Growth Energy Cares, the charitable arm of Growth Energy, and Front Range Energy provided $125,000 in support for five veterans’ organizations at the Growth Energy/Front Range Energy annual golf tournament on June 15 in Windsor, Colo.  The organizations include the Vail Veterans Program, Hire Heroes USA, Homes for Our Troops, The Fitch Foundation, and WYCO Veterans Alliance. One hundred percent of the tournament’s sponsor contributions will go toward donations to these charities.

The American ethanol industry’s success has resulted in a reduction to America’s dependence on foreign oil. This industry has created a cleaner, homegrown fuel. Every gallon of clean-burning ethanol decreases the nation’s dependence on oil—one truckload of American ethanol displaces more than 60 barrels of imported oil. The U.S. has cut imports by more than half since the Renewable Fuel Standard was enacted.

“We have always focused on supporting organizations centered on helping our troops and veterans and their families. We are proud to continue doing our part for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for us all and to have a great partner in Front Range Energy in this effort,” said Emily Skor, Growth Energy CEO. “Our ability to produce fuel right here at home is the best way to guarantee our service members’ safety while also moving our country forward with a cleaner, less expensive, higher performing fuel choice.”

“Every gallon of American ethanol we produce at Front Range Energy is one gallon less that we have to import and moves us closer to energy independence,” said Dan Sanders, Front Range Energy Vice President. “I am proud that Front Range Energy can once again host a great event and give back to the soldiers and the families that do so much to secure our freedoms. We pride ourselves on being a very patriotic industry and I can see no better way to give back than to donate to such worthy charities that help our heroes.”

About the charities:

Vail Veterans Program
Since 2004, the Vail Veterans Program (VVP) has been transforming military injured and their families through individualized world-class outdoor programs building confidence and life-long relationships. The participants of the VVP are wounded warriors who were severely injured during their military service in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. At the VVP, participants find a “new normal” – fostering mental and physical healing.

Hire Heroes USA
Hire Heroes USA empowers U.S. military members, veterans and spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce. As a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, Hire Heroes USA’s services are provided at no cost.

Homes for Our Troops
Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post – 9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar has gone directly to our program services for Veterans.

The Fitch Foundation
The Fitch Foundation’s mission is to give back to our disabled heroes, by assisting with disabled athletic programs, to reach out to the community by providing events that offer inspiration, and awareness for the disabled veterans in their areas, and to promote health and education of programs with the VA Hospital.

WYCO Veterans Alliance
WYCO Vet-to-Vet Alliance: WYCO is an entrepreneurial non-profit organization of Vets for Veterans co-managing private non-profit and “Good Neighbor” programs such as “Project Healing Waters” for Vets. WYCO is also a networking referrals group through its Vet members. The referrals are based on actual Veteran results and experiences with various entrepreneurial Vet services, groups and public agencies. WYCO holds its own events and acts as a pool of Vet-to-Vet volunteers and friends who focus on having fun while serving the Vets and their communities and families.

As it grows, WYCO will extend helping hands to other Vet groups and community projects important to Vets and their families.
