Growth Energy Applauds Incoming Leaders of Biofuels Coalition

WASHINGTON, DC — Following the announcement that Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will respectively become chairman and vice chairman of the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition in January 2015, Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy, issued the following statement:

“I would like to congratulate Gov. Branstad and Gov. Nixon on their new leadership positions in the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition. We are fortunate to have such strong champions on both sides of the aisle. Both governors are tireless advocates for the renewable fuels industry, and I’m confident that they will continue to advance the bipartisan work of the Coalition, strengthen rural America, move our nation toward energy independence and bring consumers a choice and savings at the pump.

“I would also like to thank Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, the outgoing chairman, for his service to the Coalition this past year and his commitment to our nation’s farmers and energy future.”

The Governors’ Biofuels Coalition is a 33-state bipartisan coalition founded in 1992 to increase the use of renewable fuels. It plays an important role in advancing biofuels policy both on a state and national level.
