Three Million Miles Strong

Powered by Sunoco Green E15, a fuel containing 15 percent homegrown ethanol, NASCAR is burning a cleaner, renewable fuel, while simultaneously improving the American environment and supporting the national economy.
Since the start of the 2011 season, E15 has successfully run on the rigorous racing conditions at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™, NASCAR Nationwide Series™, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series™. With every drop of Sunoco Green E15 fueling the action on the track, NASCAR is proving the continued durability and high-performance of ethanol, a low-carbon, high-octane fuel. NASCAR drivers have repeatedly applauded the renewable fuel, noting an increase of up to 10+ horsepower.
In yet another step forward for ethanol, Growth Energy and American Ethanol No. 3 driver Austin Dillon recently announced that NASCAR officially hit the threshold in late September 2012 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Dillon highlighted that this milestone is “yet another testament to the quality and value of ethanol” for American drivers both on and off the racetrack.
From the National Association of Convenience Stores Show in Las Vegas last week, Austin said, “I trust E15 in my race-car and can attest to the benefits of renewable fuels. Investing in American ethanol is an investment in America.”
In order to increase awareness of ethanol and dispel myths about the renewable domestic fuel, Growth Energy and the National Corn Growers Association formed the American Ethanol partnership with NASCAR, and the organizations have been working in conjunction since 2011 to educate consumers about the proven benefits of ethanol.
“The transition to Sunoco Green E15 fuel was and continues to be seamless,” said Dr. Mike Lynch, managing director of green innovation at NASCAR. “After three million miles driven across NASCAR tracks, E15 has proven to be a high performance, renewable fuel that produces great racing, demonstrates energy independence and supports our farmers.”
Three million miles strong, E15 has been continuously validated in the toughest racing grounds. An additional six million miles of U.S. Department of Energy tests further demonstrates that ethanol is a successful fuel for vehicles 2001 and newer. Americans want a better fuel, and what could be better – for our environment, for our economy, for our energy security – than homegrown E15?
