WASHINGTON, DC — Following the official launch of the Fuels America campaign, a broad-based coalition of renewable fuel producers and stakeholders dedicated to defending the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and correcting the misinformation that has been perpetuated by special interests, foreign oil and Big Food, Tom Buis CEO of Growth Energy released the following statement:
“Growth Energy is excited to be a part of this diverse coalition and I am pleased to see so many stakeholders and producers work together in defense of the RFS.
“The RFS has been the most successful energy policy enacted in the last forty years, but it is doing more than helping us reduce our dependence on foreign oil. It is creating jobs here at home that cannot be outsourced and revitalizing rural communities across the heartland, all while improving the quality of our air, the environment and providing consumers savings at the pump.
“We are only five years into a 15 year policy that has shown nothing but success in reducing our dependence on foreign oil. Already, ethanol makes up 10 percent of the nation’s gasoline pool and the RFS has stimulated rural America’s economies, creating and supporting more than 400,000 jobs.
“I look forward to working with this group to ensure that we do not succumb to misinformation, special interests and shortsighted policy decisions based on single events. The RFS is working – and this coalition is not just about protecting the RFS, but the best interests of our nation and the American people.”
