Fuels America: New Campaign on Renewable Fuels
$50 billion saved in imported fuel costs in 2011.
A half trillion dollar increase in the value of America’s family farms
More than 400,000 jobs supported across the country.
None of this would be possible without the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), the key to fueling America’s economy, creating jobs and enhancing our energy security.
First enacted in 2005, the RFS has strengthened America’s rural economies and communities, improved America’s energy security by helping reduce dependency on foreign oil, spurred millions of dollars of investment in new technology for conventional and advanced renewable fuel and brought cheaper, better fuel to American consumers.
Right now, the RFS is under attack by a series of misguided assertions seeking to blame this long-term, forward-thinking energy policy for a recent spike in the price of corn, one of the many crops used for renewable fuel production. Make no mistake, corn prices are going up because of the drought, not because of the RFS. Dismantling, or “waiving,” the RFS would cause significant damage to our rural communities, energy security and economic growth.
Growth Energy is proud to announce the launch of Fuels America – a new coalition of renewable fuel stakeholders who have joined forces to promote America’s energy independence, security and economic prosperity – and we call on you to join us in our fight.
Check out the Fuels America website and @FuelsAmerica Twitter handle for details on how you can protect the RFS, hear stories from across our industry, and learn more about how renewable energy is fueling America.
