Consumers Demand Higher Ethanol Blends
American citizens care about the environment, as well as the energy and national security of our country. In fact, 82 percent of Americans want to have a choice and savings at the pump. American-made ethanol provides that choice and savings, and has a positive impact on our nation’s economy by keeping hard earned American dollars here at home.
Major retailers have been installing higher ethanol blends, like E15, in response to consumers’ demand for choices of more renewable fuel options at the pump. In order to keep the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) moving forward, EPA must finalize a Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) rule of 15 billion gallons to satisfy the original statutory requirements. In doing so, EPA would guarantee that these higher ethanol blends have access to the marketplace, giving consumers the option to choose a cleaner and less expensive fuel option.
The Renewable Fuel Standard is making America stronger by reducing our dependence on foreign oil. After years of success from the RFS, we must not turn back the clock of progress. Instead, we must capitalize on the current success and continue to invest in the future development and commercial scale production of next generation biofuels.
Supporting the RFS is critical for America and for the future of our nation. Consumers want access to biofuels so they can save money at the pump and take an active role in reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions. EPA needs to recognize that advancing policies that support homegrown biofuels and consumer choice is vitally important. If you are a consumer that wants to help reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and save money at the pump, follow the link below to submit a comment to EPA to tell them to increase the RVO to the statutory level of 15 billion gallons!
