Growth Energy Nabs Two Top Awards for Best Ag Communications in 2010

WASHINGTON, DC – Growth Energy’s national advertising campaign, dubbed “Facts,” won regional honors and recognition by the National Agri-Marketing Association, including a First Place award, in a judging of the nation’s best work in agricultural communications in 2010.

The Facts ad campaign launched in April and ran through the fall, with nearly $3 million invested on national TV, on-line, traditional print, and outdoor ads. What caught the attention of the judges at NAMA for a First Place award for outdoor creative was Growth Energy’s station domination of the Washington, DC, Capitol South Metro station – the closest stop to the U.S. Capitol and the offices of the House of Representatives. The station domination, photos of which can be seen here, included 45 large-scale floor mats, pylon wraps, wall graphics and banners, surrounding the thousands of Hill and agency staff, lobbyists and Capitol visitors who passed through the station daily.

“This is a very welcome recognition of the great creative work that went into the ads. But in turn we must recognize that it was the membership of Growth Energy that saw the need for a robust and vigorous effort to communicate the positive ethanol story to those Americans who haven’t heard it,” said Chris Thorne, Growth Energy Director of Public Affairs. “The entire Facts campaign was designed to reach decision-makers across the country – whether that be a lawmaker in Washington or a suburban mom in New Jersey – and remind them that ethanol is our country’s only alternative to foreign oil.”

The campaign also won a Merit Award in the multi-media category, for how the creative was used on national TV, on-line, and in traditional print and broadcast, as well as outdoor. The TV spots can be viewed on Growth Energy’s website at www.GrowthEnergy.org/ads. Growth Energy, the leading voice for U.S. ethanol supporters and producers, worked with 3 Advertising, based in Albuquerque, N.M., on the ad campaign.
