Ethanol Industry Launches First-Ever National TV Ad Buy (US Ag Net)
Wisconsin's biofuels backers are cheering a new release coming soon to a television set near you. For the first time ever, the American ethanol industry is launching a sustained, national advertising campaign to extol the benefits of renewable, domestic ethanol as an alternative to imported petroleum.
Growth Energy, the coalition of U.S. ethanol supporters that created the ad buy, and the Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance hosted a 'commercial premiere' event in the State Capitol in Madison on Monday to debut six new commercials that will be running as part of a $2.5 million national advertising effort they are calling the 'America's Fuel' campaign.
"Wisconsin is positioned to be a leader in the development of biofuels that will be good for our economy, our environment and our effort to become more energy independent," said WBIA Director Josh Morby. "It's time the public got some simple facts about ethanol and these ads do just that."
Growth Energy and Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance representatives were joined at the event by the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association and other ethanol supporters.
"Wisconsin farmers are proud to grow corn for food, feed and fuel," said WCGA President Brian Long. "We hope this ad campaign will help lead more Americans to embrace expanded use of America's fuel--and move away from expensive foreign oil."
The event in Wisconsin was one of 10 events held around the country on Monday to celebrate the 'America's Fuel' campaign.
The six-month campaign will air on four cable networks: Fox, MSNBC, CNN and HLN. More than half of the spots are in prime-time, with the rest airing on shows such as Larry King Live, Morning Joe, and Fox and Friends.
