(C.Q.) Stakeholders Call for Text as Senators Move Forward With Climate Bill
Sens. John Kerry and Joseph I. Lieberman have chosen to roll out their long-awaited and much-beleaguered climate change legislation this week — just as oil industry executives will be on the Hill to testify before lawmakers about an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Bad timing?
Maybe. Maybe not.
The senators are expected to make the gulf accident part of their case for climate legislation, in hopes that revulsion at the spill’s environmental damage will increase momentum for efforts to push the nation away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy sources...
