Growth Energy Chairman Outlines Future of Cellulosic Ethanol Industry
Today, Jeff Broin, Growth Energy Chairman and CEO of POET, the largest ethanol producer in the world, discussed the company's progress and future plans to commercialize cellulosic ethanol. In a speech delivered at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Broin outlined the near-term viability for the cellulosic ethanol industry and said that making cellulosic ethanol financially viable could hinge on upcoming decisions facing government agencies and Congress.
"Research has shown that there is 1.3 billion tons of available biomass in the United States – and it is available in each and every state in the Union. So through cellulosic ethanol, every state can participate and be part of the solution to increase our country’s energy independence, while cleaning our air and creating jobs," said Broin.
