Congressman Dale Kildee and Staff Visit Growth Energy Member Plant

By Growth Energy

On Monday, August 23, Congressman Dale Kildee (D-MI) and his aide, Jim Lewis, toured the POET-Caro Biorefining plant in Michigan, and talked with growers.

The group talked about the benefits of ethanol and the need to raise the blend cap beyond E10 to allow the industry to grow.

POET Biorefining General Manager David Gloer  said, "We need federal government to increase that regulatory cap. Unless the cap is increased to 15 percent, the industry can’t grow."

Increasing the blend of ethanol from 10 to 15 percent would create more than 136,000 new jobs in the U.S., reduce our dependence on foreign oil by 7 billion gallons, reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing 10.5 million cars from the road, and revitalize our rural communities

Kildee, who has been a strong supporter of ethanol development and use, says ethanol production meets the important 3-E’s, of energy, environment and economy.

Every gallon of ethanol produced lessens dependence on foreign oil, improves our envirobment and creates jobs in our rural communities.
